Bilingual Clinical Neuropsychologist

PSY# 33884

I am Dr. Heather Alvarado. I am very passionate in working with individuals from all walks of life such as children, teens, young adults and older adults. I remember the first memory of my dream of being a psychologist. My mother and I were playing with dolls and pretended that my doll needed help with her heart. My mom asked me, “Do you want to be a heart doctor?” I said, “No, mom I want to be a doctor that understands emotions”. That’s when my mom knew that I wanted to be a psychologist. She told me what it was and I never looked back since then.

I am also a proud military spouse and have traveled from Texas to the east coast to California. I am very passionate about working with veterans as well as military families. As a military spouse, I am sensitive to the unique needs and barriers that military individuals and families may face.

In my clinical experience I have worked with foster youth, children and teens in the special education setting, and worked with late adults who have dementia, Alzheimer’s and other medical conditions.

I have also served as an educator at Mt. San Jacinto College and Norco College where I had the pleasure of teaching Behavioral Statistics, Research Methods, Intro to Psychology, Human Development, and Abnormal Psychology. In my time in the college setting I also provided psychotherapy to college-aged students and assisting them in achieving their educational and personal goals.
